Austrian Airlines cancels 400 flights due to employee strike
Austrian Airlines has canceled around 400 flights that were scheduled for last Thursday and Friday due to a strike by employees demanding salary increases. The company stated in a message that, due to the strike action by its employees demanding salary hikes, it was forced to cancel over 400 flights between Thursday morning and Friday afternoon. The company apologized to approximately 50,000 passengers who had booked on those flights.
The Easter holiday is an occasion for family gatherings that lead to heavy travel in the days preceding it aboard this airline, specialized in transportation between Central and Western Europe.
Similar strikes have affected the German airline Lufthansa earlier this month due to similar demands, resulting in the cancellation of many flights.
