Egypt and Oman have signed a bilateral agreement aimed at maximising positive returns and creating an attractive airspace for companies in the civil aviation sector. The agreement includes a joint action plan to increase air traffic between the two countries.
During discussions between Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Pilot Mohamed Abbas, and Engineer Naif bin Ali bin Hamad Al-Abri, President of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority, prospects for co-operation and partnership between Egypt and Oman in various air transport activities were explored.
Minister Abbas emphasised the strong historical ties between Egypt and Oman, particularly in aviation, highlighting the commitment of Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation and its subsidiaries to enhancing co-operation with Arab countries. The aim is to establish a strong partnership in the civil aviation sector.
Engineer Al-Abri expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful meeting, expressing his desire for further co-operation and strong partnerships between the two countries. He praised Egypt’s developmental strides, especially in civil aviation, noting several recent improvement projects.
The signing of the bilateral air transport agreement between the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority and Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority aims to regulate operational and technical aspects to serve the mutual interests of both countries. It aims to maximise positive outcomes by creating a flexible and attractive airspace for airlines.
The agreement was signed by Pilot Amr El-Sharkawy, President of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, and Engineer Naif bin Ali bin Hamad Al-Abri, President of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority. Subsequent bilateral discussions focused on air transport rights and ways to increase air traffic between the two countries.
Pilot El-Sharkawy highlighted the coordinated efforts between Egypt and Oman, aiming to enhance and maximise benefits for both sides and contribute to improving and supporting the aviation sector in the Middle East.
The Omani delegation expressed admiration for Egypt’s achievements and development projects, particularly noting the strong momentum of the new administrative capital, seen as a promising hub for further investments. They stressed the importance of joint efforts with Egypt to advance the civil aviation industry regionally and internationally, aligning with the aspirations of Arab countries in all air transport activities.
Attending the meeting were Amani Matouly, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Pilot Amr El-Sharkawy, President of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, Pilot Mohamed Mousa, President of EgyptAir, Reem Arabi, Head of Alliances and International Relations at EgyptAir, and Captain Fouad Gohar, General Manager of Agreements at the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, along with representatives from Omani airlines and the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority.
