Minister of Civil Aviation Dr. Samah el-Hefny met with German Ambassador to Cairo, Jürgen Schulz, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral co-operation and advancing the prospects of partnership in the field of civil aviation, particularly in areas such as airport infrastructure development, training, and the exchange of technical expertise between both sides.
El-Hefney praised the level of ongoing co-operation and emphasised the deep-rooted historical relations between Egypt and Germany, noting their continuous development across various fields. He pointed out that the Ministry operates under a comprehensive national strategy aimed at developing the sector, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving the quality of services provided, in accordance with international best practices.
El-Hefney further emphasised that the Ministry attaches great importance to expanding partnerships with the private sector and leveraging leading international expertise in areas such as training, qualifying technical personnel, and modernising operational and technological systems at Egyptian airports. He pointed out that Egypt adopts a clear strategy to encourage foreign investment by creating an attractive environment and offering promising opportunities in the civil aviation sector.
For his part, Ambassador Schulz expressed his pleasure with the fruitful meeting, emphasising that Egypt is a strategic partner for Germany in the Middle East. He added that his country looks forward to strengthening bilateral co-operation with the Egyptian government, particularly in the field of civil aviation, which is witnessing remarkable progress in both infrastructure and operational services.
The ambassador added that several leading German companies are keen to expand into the Egyptian market and contribute to the implementation of airport development projects, given their expertise and advanced technology in the field, as well as the promising investment environment that Egypt offers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination, activate frameworks of joint co-operation, exchange technical expertise, and enhance efforts toward sustainable development in Egypt’s civil aviation sector — thereby reinforcing the country’s position as a leading regional hub for air transport.
