EgyptAir will finish on Thursday the procedures of transporting pilgrims to the Holy sites for performing the rituals of pilgrimages.
Minister of Civil Aviation Lieutenant General Pilot Mohamed Abbas affirmed his ministry’s keenness to provide maximum support to the guests of Rahman, who travel on EgyptAir and other airlines.
The minister said that all EgyptAir staff is working round the clock to servethe pilgrims on outbound and return trips, especially the elderly and those with special needs.
The company will provide the travellers with all means of comfort in order to experience a safe trip.
The minister praised full coordination with the Saudi authorities and all the ministries concerned to serve the pilgrims.
He thanked the ministries of Awqaf, the interior, social solidarity, tourism, health, and finance as well as other authorities concerned with the affairs of pilgrims for their tireless efforts to serve the pilgrims this year.
For his part, Board Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company YehiaZakaria confirmed that the company harnessed all its capabilities from airlines, maintenance, technical work, and ground and air services to offer all the necessary facilities to the guests of Rahman, who travel to the sacred sites to perform hajj rituals.
EgyptAir was also keen to use wide aircraft models in the hajj season to reduce congestion during the travel and return journeys, which proved successful because it accommodates large numbers of passengers.
The company has dispatched working groups of various disciplines to receive the pilgrims at the airports of Jeddah and Medina around the clock.
They seek to overcome all obstacles and provide distinguished services to pilgrims during booking travel tickets, in the travel halls and on board the planes, until they arrive at their home country after completing the hajj rituals.
It is planned that EgyptAir will transport approximately 35,000 pilgrims this year to the Holy sites on board 150 flights, at a rate of 78 flights to Jeddah and 72 flights to Medina.
EgyptAir transports 11,000 pilgrims on the lottery system, 5,300 pilgrims from civil organisations and associations, in addition to around 5,000 pilgrims affiliated to tourist companies.
The national air carrier also launched an air bridge to transport 7,400 pilgrims from Bamako, the capital of Mali, on board 24 flights, and 3,000 Palestinian pilgrims on board 10 flights. EgyptAiroperated around four flights yesterday from the seasonal terminal at Cairo International Airport to Medina, to transport 1,076 pilgrims, according to a statement issued by the company.
This follows directives from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure the safe transport of all pilgrims to the holy land during the Hajj and Umrah seasons,” Zakaria said.
