The Ministry of Civil Aviation organised an inspection tour for journalists to visit the EgyptAir Training Academy and learn about the activities, services and advanced training programmes offered by the academy.
They were briefed on the latest aviation equipment for training pilots and air hospitality crews, in addition to the academy’s role in opening new horizons for trainees from inside Egypt or expatriates from different countries of the world with the aim of providing them with the necessary skills for the labour market in various civil aviation activities.
At the beginning of the tour, head of the EgyptAir Training Academy Pilot Walid Suleiman emphasized the effective role of the academy in boosting the air transport industry locally and internationally and raising the efficiency of workers and trainees to reach the highest levels of training as per regional and global specifications and regulations.
He said that this comes in light of directives by Minister of Civil Aviation Lieutenant General Mohamed Abbas, to develop air industry and improve the performance of human resources in various work sites. This, in turn, contributes to offering the highest quality of services for customers, in addition to suiting for job market requirements to enhance the competitive edge of the Egyptian civil aviation sector.
Pilot Walid Suleiman said that the EgyptAir Holding Company, under the chairmanship of Engineer Yehia Zakaria, is keen to hold more training courses for workers to keep pace with the massive and rapid developments in air transport industry and to open new horizons for co-operation with various academies and institutions all over the world.
The step is aimed at adhering to international standards in air transport and expanding the company’s air fleet to meet the needs of customers at the local, regional and international levels in light of current and future demands.
The visit included the inspection of training lecture classes and the latest aircraft flight equipment for training pilots and air hospitality crews at the Academy. The equipment items included the Airbus A320, A320neo, A220/300, A330/A340, and Boeing B737-800, B777 models. The journalists were briefed during the tour on the capabilities of evacuation devices in the academy and training courses for engineers and technicians in the field of aircraft maintenance and ground services.
The head of the academy posted the press delegation on the administrative and human resources programmes in sales, marketing, shipping and security, in addition to all various strategies offered by the academy within its cutting-edge training courses.
For his part, Pilot Moataz Fathallah, Vice President of the EgyptAir Training Academy, confirmed that the academy has succeeded in obtaining many international accreditations and certificates, such as EASA 147 aircraft maintenance engineering training certificates, issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency, and JAR TRTO (Type Rating Training Organisation) certificates.
The academy has also obtained a number of general safety certificates in occupational health and performance quality, including ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018.
The academy has played a major role in qualifying and training workers in the field of transporting and shipping dangerous goods approved by IATA in accordance with international regulations and classifications.
The academy has training programmes for the marketing mechanism, improving performance, increasing productivity, as well as basic skills for dealing with passengers approved by the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). It also offers training courses for qualifying workers in leadership, in addition to safety and security programmes approved by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The Academy had provided several training sessions for many employees of airlines from all countries of the world, including Saudi Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Iraqi Airways, Yemeni Airlines, Libyan Airlines, Sudan Airways and Tanzanian Airlines.
The EgyptAir Training Academy, established in early seventies, is one of the largest and most prestigious training academies in the Middle East and Africa. Its target is to meet the training needs of the EgyptAir Holding Company, offering services to many airlines around the world.
