Egypt’s flagship carrier, EgyptAir has signed a co-operation protocol with a number of tourism agents and tour operators headed by Phoenix and Trendtours of Germany and Berge & Meer, according to the company’s statement on Monday.
Ihab el-Tahtawi, head of Egypt Air Airlines, stated that the contract with Phoenix will extend during the next winter season for six months, to transfer about 2,000 to 3,000 tourists during that period.
EgyptAir contracted with Trendtours for transferring groups of tourists from Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin cities to Luxor directly with a total of 3300 passengers, the statement added.
E-Tahtawi added that a contract was signed with Berge & Meer to transport groups of tourists from Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin cities to Hurghada and Luxor, with a total of 2,000 passengers.
The statement further mentioned that the co-operation protocol came on the margins of EgyptAir’s participation in the International Berlin Exchange ITB activities from March 7 to 9.
Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas confirmed that his ministry is working to develop various Egyptian airports and increase their capacity to achieve the Egyp’s plan to reach 30 million tourists in 2030. He noted that he will soon announce a plan to develop EgyptAir’s fleet with the aim of transporting passengers during the next tourist season, in addition to developing and increasing the fleet of Air Cairo, the low-cost wing of EgyptAir.
