EgyptAir has been named the “Best Airline in Africa for Passenger Services” for 2025, according to the prestigious Skytrax global airline rankings, marking a significant milestone for the national carrier and Egypt’s civil aviation sector.

The award was announced during a formal ceremony held on the sidelines of the 55th Paris Air Show, where leading international airlines were recognised for excellence across various categories of passenger experience and service quality.

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El-Hefny, praised the achievement, describing it as a testament to the relentless efforts made by EgyptAir to enhance its service standards.

“This recognition reflects the success of the national airline in improving the overall travel experience and is the result of the dedication and professionalism of our ground staff, cabin crew, and frontline teams,” said El-Hefny. “It places Egypt among the leading nations in civil aviation.”

Captain Ahmed Adel, a senior EgyptAir executive, said the award boosts the airline’s competitiveness across both regional and continental levels. He noted that EgyptAir has recently implemented a comprehensive service upgrade plan, enhancing the entire passenger journey—from ticket booking to baggage collection.

He added that the company is also investing in modernising its fleet with new, more efficient aircraft to meet global standards in passenger comfort and safety.

“Our customers’ trust and their positive feedback on the quality improvements we’ve made have been crucial in earning this prestigious recognition,” Adel said. “It’s a reflection of our commitment to providing world-class service.”

Captain Mohamed Alayan, Chairman of EgyptAir Airlines, stressed that the Skytrax award underscores the airline’s dedication to meeting international service standards through continuous staff training and cross-departmental collaboration.

“This isn’t just a trophy,” he said. “It’s global validation of the exceptional work our teams deliver every day. It reflects the spirit of teamwork and our shared goal of offering an outstanding travel experience.”

EgyptAir also received several other accolades in the 2025 Skytrax rankings, including most improved airline in Africa, best economy class catering in Africa, best airline staff in Africa and best cabin crew in Africa.

In addition to the African service awards, EgyptAir moved up 20 spots in the Skytrax Top 100 Airlines list, securing the 68th position globally, compared to 88th place in 2024. This advancement highlights the airline’s tangible progress in improving operational performance and customer satisfaction.

Skytrax, a UK-based consultancy, is considered one of the most reputable global benchmarks for airline quality. Its rankings are based on extensive passenger surveys and cover criteria including onboard service, seat comfort, catering, safety, and staff professionalism.

This year’s win marks a first in the history of Egyptian civil aviation, reinforcing EgyptAir’s position as a leading carrier on the continent and recognising its strides in aligning with global standards in the aviation industry.
