EgyptAir continues to operate its air bridge to Jeddah’s Abdulaziz International Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to transport 5,000 Palestinian pilgrims, who wish to perform Umrah (minor pilgrimage) this year, in co-operation and coordination with Palestinian Airlines.
Board Chairman of the EgyptAir Holding Company Yehia Zaki, said that this comes within the framework of efforts being exerted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to provide all services and facilitate procedures necessary for Palestinian pilgrims.
Zaki said that the national air carrier is performing a pioneering role in transporting Palestinian brothers to the Holy Lands during the seasons of Hajj and Umrah every year.
Pilot Ehab el-Tahtawi, Board Chairman of EgyptAir Airlines, said that the national air carrier is operating 14 special flights this season. The flights, which transports 5,000 Palestinian pilgrims, started on November 15 and will end February 20, 2023, at a rate of four flights per month.
The newest Dreamliner Boeing B787-9 aircraft, capable of carrying 309 passengers, will be used for the first time and will make four flights each month to help the Palestinian pilgrims, said Ehab Al-Tahtawi, board chairman of the airline.
It is equipped with all modern facilities of comfort and luxury, including the onboard internet, mobile phone roaming and two LIVE TV news channels.
For his part, Jamal Al-Mashharawi, general manager of Palestinian Airlines, thanked EgyptAir for the support extended to the Palestinian pilgrims over the years.
In July, EgyptAir opened an air bridge for the return of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia and transported nearly 20,000 Egyptian, Palestinian, Malian, and transit passengers on 114 flights.
