EgyptAir Cargo has succeeded in obtaining the International Air Transport Association (IATA) certificate for the standards for transporting time and temperature sensitive shipments of medicines, known as IATA CEIV Pharma after the company successfully passed all the stages of the review.
EgyptAir Cargo was able to implement all the requirements for obtaining the certificate, which enhances the confidence of the company’s customers in its capabilities to transport shipments of highly sensitive drugs to temperatures and time during handling operations, as well as healthcare products, during shipment on cargo planes and in passenger planes warehouses.
This comes within the framework of the directives of EgyptAir chairman Amr Aboul-Enein to keep pace with the global development in the field of air freight, attract new customers, work on multiple sources of income and increase the company’s competitive capabilities by obtaining many international certificates and accreditations.
Ahmed Shaheen, Chairman and Managing Director of EgyptAir Cargo, stated that the process of taking care of such type of shipments starts from the time of receiving the reservation request at the airport of departure until it is completely delivered to the destination at the airport of arrival across all airlines network lines.
He also indicated that the review process was carried out according to a list that included many activities and points, including training that included all groups responsible for dealing with these shipments, whether within the shipping company or sister companies, the procedures that take place during all stages of handling, the equipment used in handling in terms of its validity and periodic maintenance, and the refrigerators that are stored at different temperatures.
Shaheen added that a review was also made on how to deal with refrigerated containers of all kinds and the equipment that was made to receive them, as well as conducting the necessary studies for ready-made external lines and stations by service agents to handle these shipments accepted on EgyptAir flights.
The President of EgyptAir Cargo explained that the certificate was obtained after implementing all the required procedures in the Cairo and Burj Al Arab goods complexes.
This international certificate is considered the beginning of obtaining other important certificates in the field of cargo handling of a special nature, such as CEIV Logistic for handling perishable cargo such as vegetables, fruits and flowers, and the CEIV Live Animal certificate for transporting live animals.
