EgyptAir made a strong impression at ITB China, the country’s largest travel trade exhibition, as the national carrier signed new co-operation protocols and held high-level meetings with leading travel and tourism agencies – signalling a renewed push to tap into the growing Chinese market and attract more visitors to Egypt.
Among the highlights of the event was a co-operation agreement between EgyptAir and global tech giant Huawei, aimed at promoting tourism to iconic Egyptian destinations such as Luxor, Aswan, and Hurghada. The partnership, set to run for one year, includes organised group travel packages in coordination with both local and international tour operators.

Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture also visited the EgyptAir stand, praising the airline’s role in regional and international travel and tourism.
Egypt’s Consul General in Shanghai, Ambassador Mohamed Raslan, and his deputy visited the booth as well, engaging with airline officials on ways to enhance cooperation with Chinese travel agencies and boost tourism flows between the two countries.

The EgyptAir delegation held several productive meetings with major Chinese travel companies, including Fliggy, China’s second-largest online travel agency. A cooperation agreement is expected to be signed with Fliggy in June. Talks were also held with HCG Travel Group and GZL, the largest state-owned outbound tourism company in China, to explore further collaboration and business opportunities.
“We are excited to bring more Chinese tourists to Egypt through this agreement with Huawei,” said Tarek El-Adawy, Deputy Head of Commercial Affairs at EgyptAir Airlines, noting that the deal reflects the company’s broader strategy to invigorate inbound tourism.

The exhibition concluded with a public raffle at the EgyptAir booth, offering visitors the chance to win round-trip tickets and scale models of EgyptAir aircraft – an event that drew large crowds and underscored growing interest in Egyptian tourism among Chinese travelers and professionals.
EgyptAir’s delegation included Tarek El-Adawy, Khaled Fouad (Head of EgyptAir’s China office), Ahmed Wagdy (Director of Marketing), and the marketing, promotion, and media teams.
