After years of stagnation due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and its negative impact on the global aviation sector, EgyptAir recently began launching a number of new international points as part of the national company’s plan to recover and increase its fleet.

This comes in addition to covering global markets and attracting new customers in support of travel and tourism movement in accordance with the instructions of Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas.

EgyptAir arrives in Sao Paulo for first time in its history 7 - Egyptian GazetteOver the past few days, EgyptAir, under the leadership of Engineer Yahya Zakaria, launched several flights around the world as the company operated its first direct flight to the city of Port Sudan, carrying 120 passengers. The airport authorities in Sudan received the plane by imitating spraying water on the plane to welcome it.

The operation of the new route came after the opening of the airspace to eastern Sudan, which supports the company’s ambitious plan towards expansion within the African continent

Guarulhos International Airport in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo also received EgyptAir’s first direct flight between Cairo and Sao Paulo, flight No. MS3910, with the company’s latest B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

This flight is the first in the company’s history for this route. EgyptAir operates a special flight to the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo every two weeks.

EgyptAir also achieved an increase in the number of passengers during the month of July by 4 per cent over its rates in the same period last year.

The company transported about 941,000 passengers during the same month.

EgyptAir also witnessed an increase in the capacity of its aircraft by 5 per cent, while the seat capacity offered on its flights reached 76 per cent compared to the same month last year.

EgyptAir had announced an increase in the size of its fleet by 15 per cent in the first half of this year, compared to the same period in 2022.

The company added in an infographic on its website, in which it monitored the results of its work in the first half of this year, that the size of EgyptAir’s fleet reached 76 aircraft, distributed between 29 B737-800 aircraft and 6 B777-300 aircraft.

The company also added that its fleet includes 6 B787-9 aircraft, 12 A220-300 aircraft, in addition to 8 A320 NEO aircraft, 4 A330-300 aircraft, and the same A330-200 aircraft, as well as two Airbus 321neo aircraft, and two Airbus aircraft. 320-200, and 3 A330-200P2Fs.

The national company pointed out that the number of destinations to which EgyptAir operates its flights reached 71 destinations in the first half of this year, an increase of 10 per cent over the same period last year.

During the recent period, EgyptAir has witnessed a boom, whether in terms of launching new routes or achieving the highest rates of safety and quality in addition to covering global markets and attracting new customers in support of travel and tourism.

The EgyptAir Holding Company succeeded in passing the renewal of the ISAGO certification without registering any points of non-compliance or observations on the part of the inspection team.

Yehia Zakaria, Chairman of the EgyptAir Holding Company, extended his sincere congratulations to the employees of the holding company and the ISAGO team for their efforts and co-operation with the International Air Transport Association inspection committee, which had a great impact on renewing the accreditation of the ISAGO certificate for central management.

The Chairman of the EgyptAir Holding Company also praised the employees’ excellence in applying the highest safety rates in accordance with international standards.

Zakaria added that these international accreditations confirm the status of the national carrier at the regional and international levels and contribute to attracting more passengers from EgyptAir customers as well as foreign and Arab airlines to provide service to them.

In continuation of the continuous development plan pursued by EgyptAir, whose top priority is the development of sales channels, EgyptAir organised a celebration for the launch of the new distribution channel system NDC (EGYPTAIR Retailing System), which aims to communicate directly in a more advanced manner with tourism agents inside and outside Egypt.

The project aims to increase the opportunities for displaying and selling the company’s products and additional services (Ancillary Services) better than it is now through Global Distribution Systems (GDSs), in co-operation with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

EgyptAir’s platform, ers.egyptair.com, also allows the provision of all services with diverse content, such as displaying photos or videos of high quality and technology, in addition to displaying flight schedules and prices.
