Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny announced that the Egyptian civil aviation sector is actively seeking strategic partnerships with experienced international entities to bolster airport infrastructure.
The announcement came during a recent meeting with a delegation from Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), led by Executive Director Chae Woo-Li.

El-Hefny stated that the ministry has received numerous offers from regional and global entities.
He also revealed plans to offer 11 Egyptian airports to the private sector for management and operation. This initiative is being developed in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Hurghada International Airport is slated to be the first of these projects, with the goal of transitioning to private sector management before the end of the year.

This move is intended to modernise infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency, ultimately improving the overall performance of the civil aviation sector.
During the meeting, el-Hefny affirmed the ministry’s commitment to creating investment opportunities for major international companies.
This strategy aims to improve traveler services and increase airport capacity to meet the anticipated growth in tourism and travel to Egypt.
The Korean delegation, in turn, presented its extensive experience in managing and operating over 30 international airports, including its flagship Incheon International Airport in Seoul and Istanbul International Airport.

The delegation highlighted its expertise in developing surrounding investment zones, operational planning, and successful partnerships with governments and the private sector worldwide.
Chae Woo-Li expressed his appreciation for the opportunity and praised the Egyptian civil aviation sector’s potential to become a regional and global air traffic hub.
He confirmed IIAC’s readiness to provide its expertise in operational and development consulting and to participate in investment projects to support the Egyptian economy and enhance its international competitiveness.
