In a landmark achievement underscoring global confidence in Egypt’s aviation leadership and regulatory capabilities, the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation has officially secured the hosting rights for the Airports Council International World Annual General Assembly (ACI World WAGA) 2027. The event will take place in the resort city of Sharm El Sheikh.
The hosting agreement was signed during a formal ceremony between Engineer Ayman Fawzy Arab, Chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, and the Tunisian Secretary General of ACI Africa. The signing was witnessed by Justin Erbacci, Director General of ACI World, alongside several senior executives from both sides.
This accomplishment aligns with the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s strategic vision to position Egypt as a hub for major international aviation events and to foster the exchange of expertise in line with the highest global standards. Over recent months, the Egyptian Holding Company engaged in intensive discussions with ACI World, culminating in the successful bid to host the prestigious event.
The ACI World Annual General Assembly is the largest and most influential global gathering in the airport sector. It brings together members from ACI’s regional branches—including North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa—to discuss strategies, promote cooperation, and exchange knowledge. The event features high-level public sessions, specialized forums, and an international exhibition showcasing cutting-edge aviation and airport technologies.
Recent editions of WAGA have been held in Marrakech (2022), Barcelona (2023), and Riyadh (2024), with Toronto, Canada, set to host the 2025 assembly—highlighting the global significance and dynamic nature of the event.
Commenting on the announcement, Eng. Ayman Fawzi Arab emphasized that Egypt’s selection as host reflects the country’s rising stature as a regional and international aviation hub. He noted that Sharm El Sheikh, with its advanced infrastructure, strategic location, and extensive experience in organizing global events, offers an ideal setting for WAGA 2027.
Arab added that hosting WAGA will significantly enhance Egypt’s profile on the international aviation map, attract new investments, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and boost tourism and economic opportunities. He highlighted that these efforts are fully aligned with Egypt’s broader development strategy and vision for sustainable growth.
