At the 34th Annual General Assembly of Airports Council International (ACI) Africa Region, held in Lusaka, Zambia, Engineer Ayman Arab, Chairman and Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, outlined the main pillars of Egypt’s airport development plan. The strategy focuses on expanding and modernizing Cairo International Airport, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, El Alamein, and Sphinx airports.
Arab emphasized that the plan seeks to double Cairo Airport’s capacity and strengthen connectivity between Egypt’s key tourist destinations, fully aligned with the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Arab underlined that these large-scale projects not only support Egypt’s aviation sector but also play a critical role in stimulating tourism, generating new job opportunities, attracting investment, and driving nationwide economic growth. He stressed that airport development enhances investor confidence while reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional aviation hub.
As part of his participation, Arab served as a keynote speaker during the first interactive session, “Unlocking Capital for Infrastructure Development.” The session brought together senior experts and decision-makers from the aviation sector to discuss strategies for attracting investment, mitigating financial risks, and aligning financing with long-term growth objectives.

The session explored innovative mechanisms for securing capital, including development finance opportunities and public-private partnerships (PPPs). These approaches are viewed as critical to financing airport infrastructure projects across Africa.
Participants agreed that airports must be recognized as strategic economic assets rather than mere gateways for travelers. They highlighted the need for innovative financing solutions to help African airports achieve balanced, sustainable growth while supporting broader development goals
