The Arab Republic of Egypt has added a new milestone to its distinguished record in civil aviation after securing a Category 2 seat on the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The election took place during the 42nd session of the ICAO General Assembly, held at the organization’s headquarters in Montreal, Canada.
This significant win marks Egypt’s highest-ever ranking in one of the aviation sector’s most prestigious international elections. It stands as a testament to the nation’s pioneering status and the global community’s deep confidence in Egypt’s influential role in shaping the future of air transport.

The achievement comes as the culmination of long-term strategic efforts by the Egyptian state to reinforce its global presence in civil aviation. Egypt has made remarkable strides in upgrading its aviation infrastructure, modernizing air navigation systems, and developing human capabilities in line with the latest international standards.
Commenting on the victory, Minister of Civil Aviation Dr. Sameh El-Hefny expressed immense pride in Egypt’s success, describing it as international recognition of the country’s leading role in supporting and advancing the global air transport industry.

El-Hefny emphasized that the achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Egypt’s political leadership, which has prioritized the modernization of the aviation sector as a cornerstone of Egypt’s Vision 2030. He affirmed that Egypt is now a key partner in shaping the future of global aviation policies.
Looking ahead, the minister pledged that Egypt will continue to launch strategic initiatives that promote the sustainability of air transport, serve regional blocs and developing countries, and contribute to bolstering international trade and tourism.

With this victory, Egypt reaffirms its status as a powerful voice in global aviation diplomacy and a driving force in the advancement of international air transport.
