Minister of Civil Aviation Samah el-Hefney welcomed, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Qatari Ambassador in Egypt, Tarek Ali Farag al-Ansari; the head of the Qatari Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed bin Faleh al-Hajri; Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Issa al-Malki; Advisor to the Head of the Authority for Economic Affairs and External Relations, Ahmed Rehan; and their accompanying delegation to discuss avenues of co-operation between the two countries in civil aviation sector.
The meeting was attended by Abubakr Farea, Regional Director of the ICAO in Cairo;
Mohamed Lotfy, Regional Director of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for North Africa and the Levant; Amany Metwally, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation; Pilot Amr el-Sharkawy, Head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority; Ihab Mohy, Chairman of the National Air Navigation Services Company; and a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

During the meeting, a joint technical co-operation project between Egypt and Qatar was announced. The project aims to shorten air routes within Egyptian airspace, enhance operational efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and lower carbon emissions. This initiative is in line with the ICAO and supports the goals of sustainable development as well as the shared interests of both countries.
