Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Hefny reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at enhancing co-operation and integration in air transport facilitation.
Speaking at the high-level ICAO Facilitation Ministerial Conference in Doha, Hefny emphasised that facilitating air transport is a cornerstone for the development of global air travel systems and economic growth.

He also underscored Egypt’s goal of strengthening its position as a leading regional hub in the civil aviation industry.
Hefny highlighted that adopting international air transport facilitation standards is a key step towards global progress in the aviation sector.
These standards aim to streamline airport operations, including passport control, health procedures, and security systems, thereby easing the movement of passengers and cargo while boosting operational efficiency.

The implementation of these standards is expected to ensure the highest levels of security, flexibility, and operational effectiveness.
Furthermore, Hefny stressed Egypt’s belief in the importance of international solidarity in addressing the challenges facing the civil aviation industry.
He reiterated Egypt’s strong support for the principles emphasised at the conference, including co-operation, efficiency, and inclusivity, which are vital for building a more equitable, humane, and sustainable air transport system.

The conference also provided a platform for global stakeholders to share expertise and collaborate on developing a global strategy for air transport facilitation.
This strategy is designed to quickly adapt to the rapid changes in the sector and improve integration and efficiency in international air transport systems.
The ICAO Facilitation Conference, which was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, brought together over 120 aviation ministers and civil aviation leaders from across the globe.
It featured discussions on key issues such as enhancing coordination among relevant authorities, facilitating customs and cargo procedures, travel document security, border management, combating illegal migration, supporting aviation accident victims, and fostering innovation in facilitation services.
Hefny was accompanied by a delegation from Egypt, including Captain Amr El-Sharkawy, head of Egypt’s Civil Aviation Authority, and other senior officials from the sector.

The conference, held under the theme “Facilitating the Future of Air Transport: Co-operation, Efficiency, Inclusivity,” provided a vital opportunity for dialogue among ministers and experts to discuss joint initiatives aimed at improving global connectivity and enhancing the passenger experience.
The event also addressed the strategic direction for future air transport facilitation, with a focus on strengthening international commitments to streamlining air travel.
