Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El Hefny met with Cambodia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ouk Sarun, at the ministry’s headquarters to explore ways of strengthening bilateral co-operation in civil aviation.
The talks focused on Cambodia’s interest in signing an air transport agreement with Egypt. The agreement aims to boost trade, economic ties, and tourism between the two nations.
During the meeting, El Hefny praised the longstanding and distinguished relations between Egypt and Cambodia, noting that Egypt was one of the first African and Arab countries to establish diplomatic and cultural ties with Cambodia. He emphasised the importance of enhancing co-operation in civil aviation, which would further strengthen Egypt’s position as a hub connecting to Southeast Asia.
El-Hefny also expressed Egypt’s readiness to support active co-operation with Cambodia, proposing the organisation of coordination meetings between the civil aviation authorities of both countries to discuss the possibility of signing an air transport agreement. This would help facilitate both air travel and cargo transportation between Egypt and Cambodia.
