A delegation from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority and the companies EgyptAir and Air Cairo participated in the activities of the fifteenth edition of the International Air Services Negotiations Conference (ICAN 2023) of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in Riyadh, with the participation of more than 100 countries and 700 experts in the field of civil aviation.
The Minister of Civil Aviation, Air Marshal Mohamed Abbas Helmy, confirmed that the ministry’s participation in the conference activities enhances Egypt’s role in the civil aviation system at all levels and confirms its commitment to international aviation safety and security standards in accordance with the legislation and regulations issued by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which was evident in the official signing to extend the Middle East Aviation Safety Co-operation Programme (CASP-MID) during the third phase.
For his part, Captain Amr Al-Sharqawi, head of the Civil Aviation Authority, pointed to the importance of the Programme in strengthening the relationship and consolidating regional coordination and co-operation between all countries in the Middle East region in various activities of the air transport industry, especially in the fields of training and exchange of experiences to qualify and develop the skills of security personnel working in the field of aviation, explaining that the Programme’s activities will focus on providing all forms of support and assistance through building human cadres capable of competing globally and qualified according to the highest international levels specialised in the field of aviation safety and security.
Al-Sharqawi, signed the memorandum of accession to the Middle East Aviation Security Co-operation Programme in conjunction with the International Air Services Negotiations Conference, in the presence of the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics, the Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation, the President of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and Muhammad bin Saad Al-Fawzan, Chairman of the Middle East Co-operation Programme and Vice President of the Aviation Security Sector.
It is worth noting that the ICAN conference is one of the important global events concerned with negotiations and discussions in the field of civil aviation to keep pace with the rapid and continuous development that the air transport industry is going through; The conference includes delegations from all countries of the world with the aim of conducting joint and bilateral consultations in the field of air services in order to improve the level of quality of services provided to customers in the field of air transport, as well as to establish effective links between all regulatory bodies, air operators, and related service providers, and with what it includes of positive advantages that aim to accelerate negotiation mechanisms.
