Cairo, Sharm El Sheikh airports ready to receive 40,000 participants from all over the worl

With the start of the countdown to Egypt hosting the 27th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention (COP27), specifically next November, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is intensifying its readiness to receive participants in the conference, which is expected to reach 40,000 participants, including more than 60 heads of state and a king in addition to prime ministers and civil society organisations.
Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy held an expanded meeting for members of the Supreme Committee for Aviation Security and Facilities to find out the security measures and precautionary measures applied at Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh and other Egyptian airports.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed insurance and safety plans at Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh airports during the climate summit conference in light of the expected air traffic intensity, and the minister stressed the need to provide all facilities and the best services to Egypt’s guests.
Minister Helmy also praised the importance of continuous co-operation and coordination between all the competent security agencies and the authorities operating in the civil aviation sector, stressing the need for continuous and accurate follow-up of security procedures with the application of the highest international standards for security and safety, as well as the importance of the commitment of all parties and companies to implement security plans with precision.
Helmy also met with Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad to coordinate between the two ministries regarding all arrangements for Egypt’s hosting of the Cop27.
The minister affirmed that the preparations for the climate summit are at the forefront of the interests of the Ministry of Civil Aviation in light of the political leadership’s directives to bring this global event out, in an honorable manner that befits Egypt’s leading position regionally and internationally and in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
The minister also referred to the important role of the committee formed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding the follow-up of the organisation and preparations of Egyptian airports in a way that contributes to serving the participants in the conference, facilitating their procedures and overcoming all the difficulties they may face.
For her part, Minister Fouad indicated that video clips have been completed that provide a brief overview of the conference for visitors, which will be displayed on screens in airport halls and others that will be shown on board aircraft. A number of billboards about the conference will be prepared, as well as implementing videos on special topics climatic changes to be displayed inside screens at Egyptian airports.
The minister reviewed the logistical services that will be provided and work to provide all facilities for the participating delegations, in coordination with all the authorities concerned at the airports, where services were provided for people with special abilities at the airports, as well as the provision of 250 volunteers through the Ministry of Social Solidarity to help at airports.
Special counters have been allocated in the conference hall for participants to quickly and easily finish procedures.
On the other hand, Amr Abul-Enein, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EgyptAir, stated that the national air carrier m, the official carrier of the delegations participating in the conference, will work to provide all the necessary facilities and provide the highest level of services to the participating delegations, in addition to organising an advertising campaign for the conference on board its planes and external offices.
Abul-Enein added that work teams from all disciplines were formed to follow up on the developments of the event, remove all obstacles for the participating guests, and facilitate arrival and travel procedures.
