The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA), in co-operation with the Arab Civil Aviation Organisation, hosted a specialised workshop titled “Crisis Management in Air Transport” at its headquarters.
The workshop brought together over 25 trainees from the ECAA, alongside participants from various Arab countries. The event aimed to enhance understanding of the challenges, risks, and crises facing the air transport sector, while fostering the exchange of expertise on effective crisis management strategies.
Hesham Abdel Basset, Head of the Central Administration for Air Transport, highlighted the importance of the workshop in equipping participants with tools to navigate industry risks. He stressed the significance of proactive planning, rapid response teams, and coordination mechanisms among relevant authorities during emergencies.
Key topics covered included pre-crisis planning, coordination between emergency stakeholders, and reviews of past aviation crisis responses. Participants engaged in practical exercises simulating potential crisis scenarios to sharpen their decision-making skills under pressure.
Attendees praised the initiative, noting it as a vital step in raising crisis management awareness amid the growing challenges facing the aviation industry. They also commended the Ministry of Civil Aviation and ECAA for prioritising capacity building and aligning with global best practices.
