A high-level delegation from Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, including senior officials from EgyptAir, Cairo International Airport, and tourism sectors, participated in the ITB China travel trade show held at the Shanghai World Expo and Convention Centre.

During the event, the chairmen of EgyptAir Holding Company and Cairo Airport Company met with the director of Shanghai Airport, leading to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Cairo International Airport and Shanghai Airport.

The agreement aims to enhance passenger and cargo operations and support the transportation of passengers and goods between the two cities. It also seeks to bolster air freight operations for passenger flights and improve the transit passenger experience at both airports.

The two parties agreed to launch joint marketing campaigns and hold regular meetings to promote the aviation market between Cairo and Shanghai. They also plan to share market insights and data, exchange expertise, and provide training to improve technical and administrative standards.

In addition, EgyptAir signed MoUs with Dongli Group, one of China’s largest ticket booking companies, and Meiya Air Service, the leading travel agency in China, designating Meiya as EgyptAir’s official agent across China.

The EgyptAir pavilion at the ITB China saw the signing of these agreements, along with coordination meetings with tourism and travel agents to showcase EgyptAir’s latest services and new flight routes. These efforts aim to promote Egypt as a preferred travel destination, attracting large numbers of global tourists annually.

Yehia Zakaria, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, emphasised that China is one of the world’s largest tourism markets. EgyptAir’s participation in ITB China provides an opportunity to reach numerous clients and travel agents, promoting Egyptian tourist destinations and building new partnerships.

EgyptAir’s CEO highlighted the strategic focus on the Chinese market, noting the recent launch of the Cairo/Shanghai flight route to meet growing demand. By 2028, EgyptAir plans to expand its routes to China to six destinations.

The EgyptAir pavilion attracted significant interest from exhibition visitors, who explored potential collaborations in the burgeoning Chinese travel market. The airline also conducted a public draw at its pavilion, offering attendees the chance to win travel tickets, EgyptAir model planes, and various promotional gifts, which drew considerable attention from visitors.
