Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny conducted a pivotal official meeting with Georgios Saunatsos, Governor of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Services Authority (HCAA), on the periphery of Egypt’s participation in the 42nd Session of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) General Assembly in Montreal, Canada.
The meeting served to reinforce the deep-rooted historical relations between Egypt and Greece, with Minister el-Hefny underscoring that collaboration in civil aviation is a
El-Hefny affirmed the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation’s strong interest in the exchange of expertise and the expansion of co-operation across several key areas.
These areas include aviation safety projects, sustainability initiatives, and technological development, all of which align with contemporary global trends within the aviation industry.
A significant point of discussion was the opportunity to coordinate on critical issues on the ICAO agenda.

El-Hefny specifically highlighted the importance of joint coordination concerning the upcoming elections for membership in the ICAO Council.
In response, Governor Saunatsos expressed Greece’s appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal regional and international role in civil aviation.
He confirmed his country’s strong desire to enhance bilateral co-operation to mutually benefit both nations and support sustainable growth within the vital air transport sector.
The discussions concluded with a mutual commitment from both parties to provide continued consultation and coordination within the ICAO framework, including mutual support for their respective candidacies. Furthermore, both Egypt and Greece committed to expanding cooperation frameworks on joint projects aimed at promoting sustainability and progress across the region.
