Cairo International Airport has reached unprecedented operational peaks, recording some of its highest daily traffic rates in history during the weekend of February 7 and 8, 2026. This surge highlights the accelerating growth of Egypt’s aviation sector and the airport’s capacity to manage massive passenger volumes.
On Saturday alone, the airport facilitated 715 flights serving approximately 108,300 passengers.
International travel dominated this activity, with 564 flights transporting over 95,000 travellers, while domestic, cargo, and special flights accounted for the remainder of the day’s robust schedule.
The momentum continued into Sunday, February 8, as the airport handled 109,300 passengers across 682 flights.
International traffic remained the primary driver, with 570 flights carrying more than 100,000 passengers, nearly evenly split between arrivals and departures.
This consistent high performance over the 48-hour period underscores a significant trend in travel demand and demonstrates the airport’s vital role as a regional hub for both tourism and international commerce.
Chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports Ayman Arab noted that these record-breaking figures are a direct testament to the efficiency of the airport’s infrastructure.
He emphasised that the current operational system is designed to absorb such high density while maintaining a seamless flow through departure and arrival halls.
By prioritising both high-volume throughput and strict adherence to global safety and quality standards, the airport continues to validate its readiness for future growth.

Supporting this vision Chairman of the Cairo Airport Company Magdy Ishaq confirmed that all sectors have transitioned to heightened operational procedures to manage the increased density.
He highlighted the importance of continuous 24-hour coordination among all airport entities to ensure that service levels remain uncompromised despite the heavy traffic. Through ongoing infrastructure modernisation and the continuous development of human resources, Cairo International Airport is reinforcing its position as Egypt’s premier gateway, capable of delivering professional and efficient service at any scale.
