Borg El Arab International Airport welcomed the first flight of Pegasus Airlines from Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, Türkiye, on December 13, 2023. The flight, which was operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, landed at Borg El Arab International airport at 10:00AM local time.
The flight was greeted with a water cannon salute, a traditional welcome ceremony for new flights. A team of airport officials and representatives from Pegasus Airlines welcomed the passengers and provided them with gifts and assistance with immigration and customs clearance.
The flight was operated on behalf of the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation. The ministry has been working to increase air traffic between Egypt and Türkiye, and the new Pegasus Airlines route is a significant step in that effort.
The flight will operate four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The new route will provide travelers from Türkiye with direct access to Egypt’s capital city and its many tourist attractions.
