Boeing: Egypt a regional hub for African civil aviation growth 2 - Egyptian Gazette

By Mohamed Attia

Anbessie Yitbarek, Regional Director of Commercial Aviation for Africa at Boeing, affirmed that Egypt plays a pivotal role in supporting and advancing civil aviation across the continent. He noted that Egypt’s unique geographic location gives it a strategic advantage, positioning it as a key connection point between Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

His remarks came during Boeing’s annual Ramadan iftar hosted for aviation journalists.

Yitbarek explained that Egypt’s civil aviation sector holds significant potential, supported by advanced infrastructure and well-trained human resources, qualifying the country to serve as a regional hub for air transport and aviation services. He added that ongoing airport modernisation plans and fleet development by Egyptian airlines are enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian market.

He further highlighted that Africa is witnessing rapid growth in demand for air travel, creating promising opportunities for both airlines and manufacturers alike. He emphasised that Boeing aims to expand co-operation with its regional partners to support expansion plans and achieve the highest standards of efficiency and sustainability.

He concluded by stressing that Egypt will remain a key pillar in Boeing’s Africa strategy, given the strengths that reinforce its leadership in this vital sector.
