The Ministry of Civil Aviation participated on Sunday in the meetings of the United Nations Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice. These meetings came within the framework of the activities of the COP27 climate conference, in session in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The meetings discussed the reports of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) regarding the ambitious global goal for international aviation to reach zero carbon emissions by 2050. The ambitious net zero goal must be matched by mechanisms for implementation and the provision of financial resources through global donors, technology transfer and training.
This comes in light of the interest of the Ministry of Civil Aviation in the file of environmental protection and the reduction of carbon emissions. It is a major goal within the strategic objectives that achieve sustainable development.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has developed mechanisms for using sustainable fuels as one of the major challenges that require advanced technology, high costs and international support.
