Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El Hefny, has held talks with executives from the global space technology company Space42 to explore co-operation in digital transformation and smart infrastructure for the country’s aviation sector.

The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Cairo and attended by Eng. Ayman Fawzy Arab, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports and Air Navigation Holding Company, focused on ways to modernise Egypt’s airports using artificial intelligence and satellite technologies to boost operational efficiency and enhance airspace monitoring.

Space42 presented its GIX platform, showcasing its capabilities in geospatial data analysis and satellite-based communications–particularly valuable for maintaining connectivity in remote airport locations.

Talks also touched on the role of Space42’s Aerospace division, which specialises in digital platform development and advanced air traffic control systems. Both sides discussed potential collaborations in air surveillance and communications infrastructure.

El Hefny praised Space42’s cutting-edge technological solutions, stressing that the ministry is committed to adopting smart systems as part of its broader strategy to modernise Egypt’s civil aviation sector in line with the highest international standards.
