Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El-Hefny, held a high-level meeting with representatives of private airlines operating in the country and officials from the Chamber of Tourism Companies to discuss solutions to challenges facing the sector. The meeting was attended by key figures, including Amr El-Sharqawy, Head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mohamed Lotfy, Regional Director for North Africa at IATA, and Nader El-Beblawi, Chairman of the Chamber of Tourism Companies.
The discussions focused on identifying obstacles faced by tourism chambers and airlines and exploring practical solutions to address them promptly. The aim is to foster collaboration that enhances Egypt’s tourist flow from various countries to its numerous destinations.
Key topics included the potential for offering more support and operational facilities to airlines, enabling them to increase their flight capacities and improve connectivity to Egypt’s tourist hotspots.
Airline representatives expressed gratitude to the minister for organising what they described as a productive meeting.
They emphasised the pivotal role of the aviation sector in boosting tourism and commended the ministry’s quick response in coordinating with the tourism sector to implement effective solutions.
The representatives also praised the Egyptian government’s efforts to provide extensive support and facilities, which they said have strengthened their ability to attract more tourists both domestically and internationally.
They underscored their commitment to increasing seat capacity on flights serving Egypt’s tourist destinations to further bolster the sector’s recovery and growth.
