Alamein Airport to reach full capacity for N. Coast growth 2 - Egyptian Gazette

By Mohamed Attia

In a move to solidify the North Coast as a premier global investment hub, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has signaled a major push to bring El Alamein International Airport to full operational capacity. Presiding over a strategic meeting with the ministers of aviation and transport, the prime Minister framed the airport not merely as a transit point, but as the essential engine driving the region’s developmental and tourism boom.

He issued a clear directive to officials to ensure the airport reaches maximum efficiency as soon as possible to capitalise on the area’s rapid transformation.

Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny detailed a comprehensive development strategy designed to modernise the airport’s infrastructure.

The plan focuses on a major upgrade of the passenger terminal, including the expansion of arrival and departure halls to manage the projected surge in traveler traffic.

Beyond aesthetic improvements, the initiative targets the technical core of the airport by enhancing air navigation systems and ground services.

These upgrades are intended to align the facility’s capabilities with international standards, ensuring it can seamlessly support the significant tourism and investment boom currently reshaping New El Alamein City.

Complementing the aviation upgrades Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir outlined the extensive efforts being made to integrate the airport with the broader national infrastructure.

Ongoing projects are focused on enhancing the road networks and logistical corridors leading to the airport, ensuring high-safety connectivity to surrounding investment hubs.

This multi-sectoral approach aims to transform the North Coast into a premier global destination accessible year-round, backed by a sophisticated transport network that links air travel with high-quality land transit.
