Captain Wael al-Nashar, Chairman and CEO of the Egyptian Airports Company, expressed his pride of the new international accomplishment of the Egyptian airports, as Hurghada International Airport won ” Waste Avoidance” prize, while Alexandria International Airport was honoured for its efforts in waste recycling by Airports Council International (ACI) – Africa Region.

Al-Nashar also praised the efforts of the staff at Hurghada and Alexandria airports, who translated the directives of the political leadership and the Ministry into tangible reality by adopting the latest mechanisms in waste management and recycling. These achievements reflect the Egyptian airports’ commitment to keeping in touch with the international standards, as well as strengthening their competitiveness at the global level, al-Nashar emphasised.

Al-Nashar added that this success consolidates Egypt’s position as a leading county in Africa in the field of sustainable aviation, and reflects a balance between the operational development of airports and environmental preservation, thereby enhancing its role as a civilised and environmentally responsible gateway to the world.

It is worth mentioning that the Information Technology Department of the Egyptian Airports Company played a significant role in introducing modern technologies for the safe disposal of radioactive waste and X-ray generators, in coordination with the Atomic Energy Authority. This ensures the highest standards of environmental and health safety across all Egyptian airports.
