Chairman and Managing Director of EgyptAir Captain Ahmed Adel recently received a letter of appreciation from CEO of Airbus Christian Scherer following the successful and efficient completion of a mandatory technical adjustment program affecting the airline’s A320 aircraft.
The correspondence conveyed Airbus’s profound gratitude to EgyptAir and specifically praised the maintenance and engineering team for their rapid and professional resolution of the technical matter that arose last week.
In his letter, Mr Scherer acknowledged the difficulties faced, stating, “The past few days have been challenging. With the peak of the mandatory ELAC (Electronic Elliott Wave Control Unit) adjustment program now behind us, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for the exceptional cooperation and rapid response demonstrated by your team.”
While expressing deep regret for the operational disruption and inconvenience caused to the airline’s schedules and passengers, the CEO underscored that taking immediate steps was crucial for maintaining the highest aviation safety standards. He personally thanked Captain Adel for the swift and decisive response, which he noted, “reaffirms your unwavering commitment and our shared dedication to the top priority of our industry.”
The Airbus CEO highlighted the exemplary performance of the local team, stressing that “The speed and efficiency demonstrated by your maintenance and engineering team, alongside Airbus employees, have been exemplary and were instrumental in achieving a swift and decisive solution across the fleet.”
He concluded by confirming the strength of the partnership between the two entities, adding, “We consider ourselves fortunate to be your partners, in both challenging and favorable times.”
Scherer affirmed Airbus’s full commitment to supporting EgyptAir’s return to normal operations and stated that the company will take the time to learn from the incident, welcoming any feedback from the Egyptian carrier regarding the difficult, though necessary, decision to implement the urgent procedure.
