AirCairo, affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation, hosted on its flight from Dubai to Sharm el-Sheikh, a delegation of 35 tour operators, press and media representatives, and influential personalities working in the travel and tourism market in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in co-operation with major hotels in Sharmel-Sheikh.
This came in light of the efforts adopted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to enhance the tourist movement coming from abroad, which witnessed remarkable activity during the last period, especially from the Arab Gulf countries to Egyptian tourist destinations.
Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas affirmed the ministry’s keenness to provide all aspects of support and facilities for foreign visitors to Egypt, in a way that achieves the goals of comprehensive development and boosts national economy.
Minister Abbas referred to the tireless efforts made by the ministry to open new markets for air transport, with the aim of reaching many cities around the world through the integration between the two networks of the national company EgyptAir and Air Cairo, the low-cost economic arm.
He said that EgyptAir has taken a package of measures to enhance air traffic and tourism in light of the development plan adopted by the Egyptian state to benefit from tourist destinations across the country.
For his part, Hussein Sharif, Board Chairman of Air Cairo, said that the company started operating two flights per week between Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh and Sharmel-Sheikh with its latest E190 aircraft. This came within the framework of coordination and co-operation with a number of hotels in Sharmel-Sheikh, at the foremost of whichRixos Hotels Group.
The step is meant to support air traffic and tourism and to attract more tourists from Arab countries to Egyptian archaeological destinations nationwide.
Sharif noted that Air Cairo is making great efforts to expand its air fleet, develop airline network, and increaseits flights and seat capacity for many Egyptian tourist points.
Meanwhile, Air Cairo started its first flights from Dubai, Jeddah and Riyadh on April 20, with high operating rates that exceeded 95 per cent, especially after the recently announced facilities related to entry visas for foreigners to Sharmel-Sheikh.
As of next May, and coinciding with the launch of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2023) exhibition in Dubai, Air Cairo will start an activation campaign in co-operation with the Egyptian Tourism Authority to push forward travel and tourism movement to Sharm el-Sheikh.
