The West is addicted to self-centeredness and ignoring other opinions and points of view, especially ones with which it disagrees. What happened on November 8, against MP, Amr Darwish, during a press briefing on the case of Alaa Abdel Fattah, who was convicted on criminal, not political, grounds, drives my point home.
What happened during the briefing is – to my mind – a fatal blow to the slogans international human rights organisations, especially Amnesty International, brag about. The events of the press briefing also divulge the unprincipled nature of such organisations, being a stab in the back of slogans, such as freedom.
They show the real ugly face of these organisations, their double standards and self-centeredness. They are tantamount to a monopolisation of opinion, revealing inherent opportunism, politicisation and the political exploitation of human rights’ issues.
The truth is that the West handles its internal issues by showing no reluctance in taking firm decisions against all types of violence, acts of terrorism, and law-breaking, using all tools of repression, harassment and arrest.
In case of the international affairs of foreign states, the same West harrows to the defense of convicted criminals, such as Abdel Fattah who was proven guilty of incitement to the murder of policemen and their families.
Western governments do not allow their citizens or foreigners living in their countries to stage protests without prior notice or permission, otherwise they use force in repressing such protests.
Apparently, some people want to sabotage the successes Egypt is making in hosting COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh so far.
The world recognises COP27 as the most important climate summit to date, dwelling on Egypt’s ability to host and organise such prestigious international events.
However, some people want to distract us, even with bullying and double standards, things that are being shown by the self-contradicting West, which has masked its true face for a long time.
The same West counters any violation of the law with firmness, does not consider protests as an absolute freedom and insists to put these protests within the framework of law. It also considers any breach of the law as a crime whose perpetrators have to be penalised.
Acts of vandalism and aggression in Western countries are faced with the severest punishment, including the use of live ammunition.
Western states that keep ranting about freedom and human rights are the biggest scammers. They are more evil than the devil, giving themselves the right to do what they prevent others from doing.
These states suffer from a chronic disease, known as ‘Double Standards’. It is a paradoxical cancer that affects millions of people in the countries they conspire against and destroy.
They refuse to talk to themselves, manipulate other opinions, reject to hear the truth, are not ashamed of themselves, practice shamelessness in its most despicable form, attempt to interfere in other countries’ affairs, distort and violate judiciary institutions, and arrogantly preach morals they never apply to themselves or practice.
The real hypocrisy of the West is evident in its disregard of the occupation and oppression of some countries for 70 years, despite international decisions and the clear legitimate rights of these countries. This is, however, always the way with double standards.
Why do not Western countries freak out at the death of people from the terrorism they support? Why do not they find the widowing of women and the orphaning of children because of this terrorism abhorrent?
Do not they ever feel ashamed of themselves and their double standards?
Those picking a fight to spoil our joy with the climate summit are just irritated by our success. We see them do nothing but support evil people, traitors and terrorists.
Western intelligence services use these terrorists, mercenaries and assassins who grossly violate human rights and spread chaos to blackmail countries and subjugate them.
Why are Western countries standing up for Abdel Fattah, a mere criminal who incited the kill innocent people with no shame?
This inmate’s incitement to murder, destruction and chaos was documented and the authorities dealt with him within the framework of law, having committed a fully-fledged crime.
Will Western countries tolerate the killing of army troops and policemen by criminals who stir up chaos and destruction?
Almost all Egyptians know Abdel Fattah, a man used by Egypt’s enemies to fan the flames of chaos and destruction, like all other mercenaries supported by the West.
Abdel Fattah’s sister, Sanaa, came out to defend him, even as she is aware of the infringements he had committed.
Sorry to say, like some other people, she only wants to undermine Egypt, while the whole world watches it, hosting a major global event. Which freedom are these people talking about? Is this the freedom to betray one’s country and stimulate murder?
It is hard to believe that some people out there view a traitor like Abdel Fattah as a messenger of peace or an advocate of reform.
The arrogant West did not learn from the past. It became addicted to blackmail and double standards.
Western countries apply brute force to acts of terrorism, stabbing, and murder in them, revealing their true face.
Then the same countries contradict themselves in inexplicable ways. They demonstrate this contradiction in treating the same things when they happen in foreign countries.
I have no idea why Western countries sympathize with policemen who are killed by terrorists and then host those terrorists and provide them with care and refuge.
They also financially support these terrorists and provide them with media platforms to maintain their war against their countries.
How can we explain the West’s double standards?
These terrorists and criminals are nothing, but puppets manipulated by the West. They were raised to betray their countries and destroy them by inciting chaos and destruction.
Delight and pride fill our hearts with what Egypt has achieved in the past eight years. Now, our country hosts COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, the harvest of the seeds sowed in those eight years.
Long Live Egypt!
