PRESIDENT Abdel Fattah El Sisi was re-elected with a landslide victory of 89.6 per cent. Voter turnout was an impressive 66.8 per cent at home and abroad.
This reflects Egyptians’ conscious determination to shape the future of their nation amid numerous challenges on several fronts, notably the ongoing war in Gaza.
The choice of President Sisi for another six-year term represents a new mandate from the people of Egypt regarding their president’s policies and his refusal to allow the forced evacuation of Palestinians to Sinai.
The Egyptians appreciate their leader, who has been working since 2014 to rebuild the nation in all sectors to provide a decent life through well-planned development policies.
It also reflects the Egyptians’ keenness for the continuation of the development process that President Sisi initiated in 2014 when Egypt was suffering from political turbulence that was dubbed the ‘Arab Spring’. Egypt was also racked with terrorism and appalling economic conditions. However, within a decade, President Sisi fought against terrorism, reformed the economy and restored Egypt’s prime position in the region, Africa and the world.
The economic file will certainly top the president’s upcoming plans amidst the current global economic crises which have negatively affected the Egyptian economy.
We can say that the winner in the presidential elections is the Egyptian people who chose their future in an honorable democratic and transparent atmosphere.
Since the start of the electoral process until the announcement of the result, the National Elections Authority was committed to three main principles: fairness, equality and transparency. This is in addition to the full judicial supervision and the presence of a single judge for each ballot box at all polling stations in cities and villages nationwide. Furthermore, diplomatic missions, members of NGOs and local and Arab media were allowed to follow up the voting and counting process.
Through the ballot box, the Egyptian people said: “We are with our leader. We share the same goal and the same density.” Such was our country’s message to the world.
