The Egyptian people are well aware of evil plots against the nation.
That was made abundantly clear when they did not respond to calls for anti-government protests on November 11.
Instead, they took the reasoned, civilised way and ignored those who would have them rise up against the state.
Despite the difficulties and challenges due to the global financial crisis, the public demonstrated trust in their leader, who has taken them out of chaos to prosperity. The achievements of the last eight years are greater than those of the past 50.
The Egyptians truly appreciate the fruits of accomplishments by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi
since 2014 in agriculture, industry, health and education. Under the current political leadership, a new network of roads, tunnels and bridges has been carried out and has earned world recognition.
Beyond our borders, the president has reclaimed Egypt’s regional and international roles and adopted a neutral stance in dealing with the affairs of other countries. Egypt has gained importance for maintaining regional peace and security, as noted by US President Joe Biden during his meeting with President Sisi at COP27.
The Egyptian people have taught those who called for protests last Friday a lesson in love for the nation.
Indeed, the incitement to stage demonstrations have turned out to be a referendum on renewing public confidence in their leader and his ability to overcome the current economic crisis, caused by the coronavirus epidemic and the war in Ukraine.
Not heeding the call to take to the streets testimony bears testimony of their satisfaction with government policy on development and their firm belief in their leader’s ability to improve living standards.
The people have learnt from the chaos in the aftermath of the 25 January that further agitation for anti-state protests will only lead to destruction. Egyptians breathe an atmosphere of great achievements, stability and security, after a dark year under Muslim Brotherhood (MB) rule.
The Eyptian people cannot be misled so cynically. They will never allow the Brotherhood to control them as puppets. The nation is more precious than encouragement by the MB and its supporters abroad.
The MB would loved to have seen people pouring out into the streets with banners emblazoned with anti-government slogans on November 11, coinciding with Egypt’s hosting COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh and besmirch the image of this nation during this important event attended by more than 120 world leaders.
But their calls met no response. November 11 was a day of patriotism.
Besides, the success of COP27 was met with international applause, which is also testimony to Egypt’s stability, security and world respect.
