The Egyptian woman is a tremendous driving force for the nation in adversity and times of good fortune. Successive generations learn from her, and society progresses. She sacrifices herself for her family while asking for nothing in return.
In light of this, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi continually supports women’s causes, safeguards their rights and grants the access to influential positions that were beyond their reach for many years.
Egyptian women are living in golden age in which they receive unprecedented support and care. During the past eight years, the country’s leadership has demonstrated genuine political will for women’s empowerment, enabling them to realise their dreams without being marginalised.
President Sisi is the first defender of women’s rights, giving repeated directives to meet women’s aspirations in the home and in the workplace.
Nowadays, women hold senior judicial posts, which for decades had been exclusively for men.
In celebration of Egyptian Women’s Day last Monday, President Sisi said: “Egyptian women played an essential part in safeguarding Egypt in 2013 and thereafter.”
During the celebration, the President expressed his appreciation for women in words and in action embodied in historic decisions in their support.
He instructed the government to increase women’s representation on the boards of directors of public bodies, public and private sector companies.
The President also instructed the provision of more training opportunities to qualify women for senior positions in government, particularly in the fields of technology and digitisation. The president also instructed the government to build women’s potential as part of the national project to develop the Egyptian family and other development programmes to set up small-scale green projects with sustainable incomes, and opportunities to benefit from digital savings and loan projects.
The President called for legislative and institutional support for women’s small and micro-enterprises by facilitating banking procedures and integrating these projects into industrial complexes.
During the event, the President announced that he would pardon to all debtors – men and women – who are serving sentences in reform and rehabilitation centres. They will be released before the holy month of Ramadan.
Since the launch of the presidential rural development initiative Decent Life initiative, other initiatives have been launched for the empowerment of women in different fields and improving their education and health.
The Egyptian woman has always been, and always will be, giving, patient and endurant, persistent, determined and successful. We are grateful for every Egyptian woman for what she has done for society and the nation.
