Iran war ‘shock’ is dimming outlook for many economies – IMF

WASHINGTON – The war in the Middle East has caused serious disruption to ​the economies of frontline countries, and is dimming the outlook for many economies that had just started to ‌recover from previous crises, the International Monetary Fund warned on Monday.

Germany’s Merz: Berlin will work with Syria to return refugees

BERLIN – Chancellor ‌Friedrich Merz said on Monday Germany and Syria would work together to return hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who he said had an important part to play in rebuilding ​their country.

President Sheinbaum defends Mexico’s right to supply oil to Cuba

MEXICO CITY – Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum said ​on Monday that her country has ‌ every right to send fuel to Cuba, whether for humanitarian or commercial ​reasons.

Egypt confirms no meningitis outbreaks, prepares for WHO certification  

The Ministry of Health and Population announced on Monday that Egypt has no meningitis outbreaks. Current cases are isolated and within expected annual levels. The country is preparing to receive official certification from the World Health Organization (WHO) for its achievements in controlling the disease.  

Egypt’s PM  meets Eni executive at EGYPES 2026  

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli  met on Monday Guido Brusco, Chief Operating Officer for Natural Resources at Eni, during the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026). Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi also attended.  

Egypt, Canada discuss academic cooperation 

Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met on Monday with Dr. Wisdom Tettey, President of Carleton University in Canada, and Dr. Rafiq Gibran, Vice President of the university. The meeting focused on strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between Egypt and Canada.   

PM follows up on strategic goods stock  

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting on Monday to review the availability of strategic goods. The session included the Ministers of Supply and Agriculture, along with senior officials from the General Authority for Supply Commodities.

Egypt promotes sports tourism with major events  

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Monday its sponsorship of two major sports events in Soma Bay, Red Sea Governorate: the 2026 Open Water Swimming World Cup and the Egypt Equestrian Cup. Both tournaments highlight Egypt’s growing role as a destination for sports tourism.  

Six World Cup spots up for grabs

MADRID — The final six World Cup places will be decided this week with the conclusion of two playoff tournaments that will complete the 48-team lineup.

Egypt secures 10 medals at Wushu championships in China

The Ministry of Youth and Sports extends its sincere congratulations to the Egyptian Wushu Kung Fu national team following their remarkable achievement at the World Junior and Youth Championships, currently taking place in Nanjing, China.
