‘Your book, your culture’ is a fresh initiative to be launched at the 52nd Cairo International Book Fair later this month.
The initiative of the Ministry of Culture will offer hundreds of cut-price books from big-name publishers and ministry departments.
Minister of Culture Inas Abdul Dayem and chairman of the General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO) Haytham el-Hagg Ali, and his deputy Ahmed Bahi-Eddin, yesterday discussed arrangements for event slated for 30 June-15 July 15 at the Egypt International Exhibitions Centre in the Fifth Settlement.
The 52nd book fair, which was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, will run for 15 days, instead of the usual 12, to support the publishing industry and promote reading.
During the meeting, Abdul Dayem reviewed the designs of pavilions and pledged commitment to precautionary health measures.
For his part, Ali, said that up to 700 Egyptian and foreign publishers will be represented this year.
The latest technology will be used to control the number of visitors in line with health measures, Ali said, adding that virtual events and activities will be held on the Book Fair platform to avoid overcrowding at the venue.
