After graduating from the Faculty of Arts, she decided not to join the long queue of graduates who are waiting for an appointment in the government sector. Rather, she turned her knowledge into a ray of hope to illuminate the lives of children and families by teaching them English language, opening up new horizons for them.
Esraa Ateya, who is in her thirties, made the best use of social media as a new educational window for teaching English to children through new, untraditional methodologies. Now, she has nearly 400,000 followers on social media, gaining foothold in this virtual world that is filled with diverse content and challenges.
Israa expressed her happiness with the scientific content she has been presenting on her personal Facebook and YouTube pages, especially after she began receiving requests from many families to teach their kids the English language.
“The basis for learning any language in general depends on phonetics of letters and words in order for the child to be able to pronounce correctly. So, I started to think of providing attractive practical content for children by making songs for them in English along with illustrated video. The videos also include stories of situations we experience in our daily lives,” she explained.
In addition, Ateya pointed out that there was great interaction and interest from the parents of the children through online sessions as they are learning with their children,
“This made me very happy,” she said.
She pointed out that knowing the psychology of the child is a very important factor in the educational process.
“Constant observation is a key factor in the way of dealing with the child,” she added.
Now Ateya’s Facebook and YouTube accounts are being followed by people from many countries of the world such as Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Emirates, Sudan and Jordan. This is in addition to new students from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. Ateya has a new segment of French speakers in the Arab community who wanted to learn English.
Before launching her page in 2019, Ateya underwent a series of training courses.
According to Ateya, educating 3-year-olds helps them remove fear them and instill self-confidence.
She has prepared syllabuses from the first to the fourth grade and uploads them for free on her page and without advertising.
In her videos, the ambitious instructor employs drawings, imitates sounds, stories, music and singing correctly to make the process more interesting.
“What made me think of doing this after I graduated was that I worked in a nursery and I found myself among these children and I am full of love. I hope to expand and continue in this field,” she said.
She indicated the great importance of learning the English language, as it is the language of the time and tool of global communication.
“Learning different languages, especially English, is a requirement of the local and international labour markets and openness to the cultures and peoples of other countries.”
Meanwhile, she praised the teachers of English through social as she indicated that they complement each other without competition.
“I wish to reach all people and be able to change their lives for the better. I present this science as a humanitarian and social service to every human being, and communicate it anywhere through social media. I present an educational television programme for children, and I produce an educational cartoon series written by me for children, and it reaches all countries of the world.”
