Egypt marks National Police Day

Every year on January 25, Egypt celebrates the National Police Day, immortalising the anniversary of the Battle of Ismailia 1952 and commemorating the January 25 Revolution when the Egyptian left to squares all over Egypt against poverty and corruption.

The reason for celebrating the National Police Day is due to the British occupation forces ordered the Egyptian policemen in Ismailia to surrender their weapons, but they refused, and this led to a battle in Ismailia, in which 50 Egyptian soldiers were killed, 80 others were wounded and the rest were captured.

In the celebration of this day, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi honoured a number of martyrs and efficient policemen.
