The anticipated trip by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to Egypt next month is a clear demonstration of the strong and deeply rooted ties between Egypt and the UK, British Ambassador in Cairo Gareth Bayley said Monday.
“The visit will contribute to consolidating our human ties,” Bayley added in a recorded video posted by the embassy on its official Facebook account.
He noted that the royals will have first-hand experience of the great ancient Egyptian civilization as well as modern Egypt.
They will also see “inspiring communities and entrepreneurs,” the ambassador said in the video, which he recorded in Arabic.
Bayley indicated that issue of climate change will figure high at the royals’ meetings with government officials and clergymen during their first royal tour in two years.
The visit comes immediately after the UK’s hosting COP26, and Egypt’s nomination to assume the COP27 chairmanship next year.
