The Giza Pyramids plateau was the scene of a remarkable surge in footfall on Sunday, with approximately 15,000 visitors, Egyptians and foreigners, exploring the historic site. The figure marked a significant 25 per cent rise compared to the opening day of trial operation on April 8.
This influx of visitors, noted as the highest daily attendance since the launch of the trial phase of the service development project, highlights the Pyramids’ magnetic allure as a must-visit destination.
In a statement, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities attributed smooth and seamless visitor movement to enhanced operational systems, including an organised entry process via the Cairo-Fayoum road gate and well-maintained paths throughout the archaeological area.
The comprehensive service development initiative, led by Orascom Pyramids Entertainment Services Company, aligns with Egypt’s broader vision to elevate its cultural and historical treasures as world-class destinations.

Since the launch of project’s trial operation, daily monitoring by ministry teams and Orascom’s reports have indicated consistent ease of visitation, while highlighting actionable insights to further refine the visitor experience.
One key modernisation effort includes the installation of two self-service ticket machines at the Cairo-Fayoum entrance gate.
These machines simplify the ticket purchasing process for a hassle-free entry to the site, marking a step forward in integrating technology within Egypt’s historical tourism landscapes.
The ministry’s ongoing commitment to the site’s enhanced visitor experience comes amidst a wave of renewed excitement for ancient Egyptian history.
