Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathi, held a meeting on August 13 with Flynas’ CEO, Bandar Abdulrahman Al-Mohanna, and his team at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The main focus of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation to drive tourism growth in Egypt, especially as Flynas operates flights to various popular Egyptian destinations.
The discussion centred on the proposal for comprehensive tourism programmes to attract travellers from distant locations in the Far East and Europe who fly with Flynas to explore Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The group officials appreciated the proposal, acknowledging its potential to enhance their business due to Egypt’s rich cultural tourism offerings, which make it a unique and compelling destination.
The Minister detailed the Egyptian government’s current initiatives to enhance tourism in Upper Egypt cities, which are part of a comprehensive programme about to be launched. This programme, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, along with other relevant authorities including the Ministry of Civil Aviation, encompasses various incentives and projects. The Minister expressed readiness to work closely with stakeholders post-launch, including the Egyptian Tourism Authority, to coordinate with the private sector for professional workshops aimed at promoting this programme.
Moreover, the Minister underscored Egypt’s rich historical and tourist attractions, highlighting the ongoing efforts in preserving and expanding archaeological endeavours in the country.
He particularly emphasised the North Coast region as a promising destination, noting its three airports catering to tourists and the development of El-Alamein city infrastructure. The substantial investments by the Egyptian government in this area align with Egypt’s vision of fostering future growth and attracting more investments.
During the meeting, the CEO of the group underscored the importance of the Egyptian tourist destination for Flynas, identifying it as a pivotal market and the primary market for Saudi tourism in the Middle East.
He also highlighted the significant rise in flights to Alamein airport this year, with plans for continuous operations until September. Bookings for upcoming years are already open due to the escalating demand, alongside daily flights to Cairo.
Furthermore, considerations were made regarding the potential of hosting the annual Flynas Group conference in Alamein next October.
