Egypt has reported a remarkable 18.8 per cent increase in tourist arrivals from India during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year, as announced by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy.
The announcement was made during a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, where Minister Fathy welcomed India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K. Reddy, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in tourism and cultural heritage, aligning with Egypt’s broader strategy to enhance international partnerships and diversify tourism markets.
Minister Fathy highlighted the strong and multifaceted relations between Egypt and India, emphasising Egypt’s commitment to further expanding collaboration in the tourism sector in light of the significant growth in Indian visitors. He noted that India remains a priority market with vast opportunities for mutual growth and cultural exchange.
Key proposals discussed included organising joint workshops for tour operators and travel agencies to facilitate knowledge exchange and promote Egypt’s diverse tourism offerings to Indian travellers. Special attention was given to developing cultural, recreational, and destination wedding experiences tailored to Indian preferences, a segment that continues to gain traction in Egypt’s tourism portfolio.
Both sides agreed on the importance of collaborative promotional efforts, such as hosting tourism roadshows in major Indian cities to showcase Egypt’s rich heritage and attractions.
In addition, plans were outlined to invite Bollywood personalities and prominent Indian social media influencers for familiarisation visits, amplifying Egypt’s appeal within the Indian market. Minister Fathy and Ambassador Reddy also reaffirmed the value of Egypt’s active participation in key tourism exhibitions in India.
This high-level engagement underscores Egypt’s strategic commitment to leveraging long-standing historical and cultural ties with India to drive sustainable tourism growth and deepen people-to-people connections.
