Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, on Tuesday inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion at the 60th edition of ITB Berlin 2026, one of the world’s leading travel trade fairs, running 3–5 March in Berlin, Germany.

Speaking at the event, Fathy described ITB Berlin as the largest and most important global tourism exchange, and a key international platform for tourism professionals to share trends, expertise, and views on the future of the industry.

He said Egypt’s participation provides an important opportunity to hold professional meetings with major German tour operators and airlines to expand cooperation and increase inbound tourism from Germany, alongside official-level discussions with German counterparts to strengthen bilateral tourism collaboration.

The minister underlined the importance of the German market for Egypt, noting that arrivals from Germany grew by 11.4 per cent in 2025 compared with 2024. Germany now ranks second among Egypt’s top ten inbound tourism source markets.

After the inauguration, Fathy toured the pavilion and met with Egyptian exhibitors, reviewing indicators of inbound tourism to Egypt. He noted that there have been no booking cancellations, except for limited cases, emphasising that Egypt continues to enjoy safety and stability.

Egypt is participating through the Egyptian Tourism Authority with a pavilion spanning approximately 1,500 square meters, featuring around 111 exhibitors from the private sector, including tourism companies, hotel establishments, and airlines.

ITB Berlin 2026 hosts more than 5,600 exhibitors from 180 countries, attracts over 100,000 visitors, and welcomes extensive media coverage, including more than 3,200 journalists and 300+ bloggers.

This year’s edition marks 60 years since ITB Berlin was first launched in 1966, under the theme: “Discover the stories behind 60 years of legacy.”

The inauguration was also attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Germany Mohamed Elbadry and CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority Ahmed Yousef.
