Hashtags “save Sudan, talk about Sudan, keep eye on Sudan” widespread on social media
Social media users widely shared the hashtags “ save Sudan,” “ talk about Sudan” and “ keep eye on Sudan” to shed light on the assaults carried out by the Rapid Support Forces ( RSF) against civilians, especially after entering Wad Madani, which is the second largest country in Sudan.
By using these hashtags, Sudanese social media users posted clips of abuses the (RSF) carries out, such as breaking into houses, destruction of property and grabbing money.
They said that the world is preoccupied with what’s going on in Gaza, and the RSF carries out the most awful abuses in Sudan .
Social media users also posted videos, showing the displacement of the people of Wad Madani, commenting, “these scenes aren’t in Gaza but in Wad Madani”.
A Sudanese doctor posted on X, “ the health organisation is fully collapsed after the disaster of Wad Madani, which was a refuge for the injured, adding that the militia destroys health buildings in all cities, loots medical equipment and kills and kidnaps doctors as well as the health staff…. Since the war started, more than 20 heart centres were shutdown, destroyed and looted. He concluded his tweet with the hashtag “ Save Sudan”.
Some celebrities reacted with the hashtags, saying,” Sudanese people live tragic moments that one’s mind can’t believe; Sudanese are buried alive in the west of Sudan, there are also destruction, displacement and raping. They added that the status in Sudan resembles what’s happening in Gaza and Syria.”
Earthquake strikes China
A magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck one of China’s poorest regions just before midnight on Monday, killing at least 127 people, injuring hundreds and bringing down mud houses in remote villages, according to Reuters.
Chinese state media arriving at the sixth commune of Dahe village, one of the worst-hit areas in China’s northwestern Gansu province, found many houses were either at risk of collapse, or had already crumbled to the ground, especially homes built from earth and clay.
“I’ve lived for more than 80 years and had never seen such a big earthquake,” said an old man who was being carried out of his damaged home by rescuers.
