Secretary General of Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), Mostafa Waziry, inspected on Sunday the exhibition halls which will host the ‘Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs’ exhibition at the Australian Museum in Sydney this November.
The exhibition features 181 objects from the Kingdom of Pharaoh Ramses II who ruled Egypt for nearly 67 years.
It is now held in Paris, its third stop which will come to an end in September.
The exhibition was first held in Houston and then in San Francisco. Each of these stops lasts for six months.
Waziry said his inspection tour aimed to check the readiness of the halls for the exhibition and the extent to which security and precautionary measures are applied in them to ensure the safety of the artefacts.
He is accompanied by Director of SCA’s Scientific Office, Mohamed el-Saeidi.
Waziry gave, meanwhile, interviews for several Australian media outlets.
“These interviews are a great promotion for the exhibition before its opening,” Waziry said.
According to the website of the Australian Museum, ‘Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs’ will be the largest cultural exhibition to visit Australia in a decade when it opens in Sydney on November 18.
“It is an interactive museum experience that features 181 artefacts and ornate golden treasures, including one-of-a-kind relics, such as sarcophagi, animal mummies, magnificent jewellery, spectacular royal masks, exquisite amulets – many of which have never left Egypt before,” the website said.
Visitors will be able to purchase tickets through Ticketmaster, from 17 July 2023.
The Australian Museum was established in 1827.
