As part of its ongoing efforts to provide food support and promote social solidarity, Egyptian Food Bank, in collaboration with Tahya Misr Fund, organized its second collective Iftar, one of a series of events held throughout the holy month, in Fayoum Governorate.

The event was attended by Dr Ahmed El-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, who took part in the Iftar banquet.

The gathering aimed to support the most vulnerable families.
The Iftar, held at Ramadan tent of Salah El-Din Association, was attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Touny, Deputy Governor of Fayoum; Mr. Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank; and Mr. Ahmed Labib, Head of Field Operations. Also in attendance were Dr. Sherine Fathy, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Social Solidarity, and Mr. Khaled Farag, Head of the Local Unit of Fayoum Center and City.

The event was further attended by Accountant Mohsen Rabie, Chairman of Salah El-Din Association; Counselor Ahmed Maher, Vice Chairman of the Association; and Dr. Mohamed Othman, Chairman of the Fayoum Medical Syndicate and a Board Member of the Association, along with a large number of volunteers from the organization.
“The holy month of Ramadan is an opportunity to create a real and tangible impact in the lives of many families. We have successfully united efforts, whether through companies donating in-kind goods or financial support, or through volunteers who contribute to assisting hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries, ensuring a fair distribution of nutritious food throughout Ramadan.” Remarked Mr. Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank. He further emphasized that such initiatives highlight the importance of partnerships and volunteerism in achieving the organization’s mission, working closely with our CBO partners to ensure efficient and transparent aid distribution.
He reaffirmed that the primary objective of these partnerships is to expand feeding programs, enhance community support, and achieve operational excellence to deliver a meaningful impact on the lives of the most vulnerable groups.
Volunteers of all ages joined Egyptian Food Bank team in preparing meals in the kitchen from the early morning.
Once the preparation was completed, the designated team handled the packaging and wrapping of meals, preparing them for delivery to villages and eligible families, in addition to setting up meals for the Iftar gathering. This active participation reflects the spirit of collaboration and social solidarity, with a strong focus on quality and safety throughout all operational stages to ensure the best service for beneficiaries.
The first collective Iftar of the year was organized in Sharkia Governorate, where Egyptian Food Bank, in collaboration with Zawad for Development Foundation, hosted a Ramadan Iftar banquet in Alaa El-Din area in Zagazig.
The event was attended by prominent officials, including Eng. Hazem El-Ashmony, Governor of Sharkia, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Moaty, Deputy Governor. Also present were Major General Abdel-Ghaffar El-Deeb, Secretary-General of the Governorate, and Mohamed Neama Kojak, Assistant Secretary-General. The gathering was joined by Ahmed Hamdy Abdel-Megid, Director of the Directorate of Social Solidarity, and Eng. Ahmed El-Muslimany, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zawad for Development Foundation. Other attendees included Shaaban Abu El-Fotouh, Head of Zagazig Center; Ahmed Dahi, Head of the First District; Mohamed Abu Hashem, Head of the Second District; and Mohamed El-Sadeq, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Social Solidarity. Additionally, a number of local community members participated in the collective Iftar.
This Iftar is part of the Egyptian Food Bank’s ongoing Ramadan and developmental initiatives across Egypt, aimed at providing food support to the most underserved communities while fostering social solidarity.
In partnership with various associations, Egyptian Food Bank is set to organize several Iftar banquets in multiple locations to provide both Iftar and Suhoor meals to the most vulnerable groups, helping ease their burdens during the holy month. Additionally, the organization relaunching its “Tekeya Al Mahrousa” initiative, operating mobile kitchens to distribute hot meals in various squares across Egypt, ensuring that nutritious meals directly reach those in need in all governorates.

Egyptian Food Bank was established in 2004 as a non-governmental organization aimed at achieving food security in Egypt, and for 20 years, the Food Bank has continued to support the underprivileged families in Egypt who face difficulties and challenges in obtaining sufficient, safe and nutritious food, which directly contributed to alleviating the suffering from hunger at the national level.
