Osama Zayed, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Al-Gomhouria newspaper, obtained a doctorate in Islamic philosophy with a grade of first honour from the Faculty of Dar Al-Ulum, Cairo University, with the title ‘Eschatology between ancient Egyptian civilisation and Islamic thinking’.

The discussion and judging committee for the thesis consisted of professors, Prof.  Abdel-Radi Mohamed Abdel Mohsen, former Dean of the Faculty of Dar Al Ulum and Head of the Department of Islamic Philosophy as a supervisor and Prof. Dr. Tariq Sayed Tawfiq as an Associate Supervisor, Professor at the Faculty of Archeology – Cairo University, and Prof. Abdel Hamid Abdel Moneim Madkour, Professor of Islamic Philosophy at the College and Secretary General of the Academy of the Arabic Language, as an internal debater, and Prof. Mohamed Shehata Ibrahim, as an external debater, as a professor at the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion, Al-Azhar University.

The study dealt with the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians about the other world, their stages of development and comparison with the Islamic faith, and the points of agreement and differences between the first civilisations and the last heavenly messages.

As the study proved, because of the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians in the afterlife, their  monuments, statues and huge pyramids have reached us, to tell us about the history of the ancient Egyptian civilisation.
